“Before I had my first teacher of color, I felt as if I had to assimilate into what my white teachers thought was a good student. I didn't think I could be my true self in the classroom. That is what really led me to believe that I didn't belong. But that teacher helped me realize that I could be successful in education and still be true to myself and my culture. That teacher was what I would consider a “Warm demander”. I am very passionate about providing that to the next generation.“

“Warm demanders expect a great deal from students, convince them of their brilliance, and help them to reach their potential in a disciplined and structured environment.”
